Bike parking and street furniture - new April 2012

Taking advantage of opportunistic design to provide bike parking and shape mobility

Bike parking 101. Lessons from the street.

Site visitors to Bicycle Parking Online are invited to submit photos, rate racks or share ideas about bicycle parking issues and solutions.

David Saxen of Cascade Design Collaborative in Seattle, Washington, sent a couple of photos from Aspen, Colorado showing a failed design - a "comb" style of "wheel bender" rack sitting in the sidewalk with one lonely bike in place. Nearby, a fence, perhaps a bike rack, has been used for bike parking using the street furniture perhaps not as intended, but certainly effectively enough in context to provide a good solution to address a number of objectives.
