Last year the Washington Post reported on the soon to be opened "Bike Station" in downtown D.C. The $4 million U.S. project was opened in October of 2009 and follows a model first developed in Long Beach, California where secure storage facilities, often along with other services like showers and change rooms, have been popping up in cities across the U.S. Most are connected to major transit hubs and are popular with people either trip chaining (along with transit services), or looking for good security at centres near to their workplaces.
