For the past few years discussions have been moving the bicycle "corral" idea forward in downtown Victoria. Two permanent installations have already been built in the city and are the subject of a case study on the site. Following Portland examples of low-tech, low-cost facilities using existing car spaces, a pilot project will test demand at a couple more locations to see where more capacity is needed and where local business support can help expand the service. Bike to Work Week is an annual event in Victoria with thousands participating. It's a good time to launch new cycling initiatives and with bicycle travel on the rise, new parking services are always in demand.
